Why renewals leak
A merchant who paid down an advance on time is the easiest deal you will place this year. Funders know it too, and many reach out directly. The broker who sees the window first usually keeps the deal. That needs one number per merchant: how much of the payback has been paid in.
Keeping paid-in percentage current
Each funded deal has a remittance ledger. Record payments and balance snapshots as lenders report them, including returned debits with their return codes, or import a lender's remittance report as a CSV and match each row to a funded deal. The CRM keeps the amount remitted, the balance and the paid-in percentage current.
paid-in % = amount remitted / payback x 100 eligible when paid-in % >= the lender's renewal threshold
Servicing status (performing, behind, NSF returns, modified, default, paid off and so on) sits beside it, so you do not chase a renewal on a merchant who is behind.
The renewals list
Lenders set their own renewal thresholds, often around 40% to 60% paid in. Put each lender's threshold on the lender record. The renewals list shows merchants eligible now, those expected to cross the line within 30 days at their current pace, and those projected later.
Start renewal creates a new deal of type renewal, linked to the original, with the merchant and owners already in place. The renewal's payoff of the remaining balance goes into the offer as a payoff, so net funding is right.
Renewal automation
On plans that include renewal automation, renewal deals and tasks are created automatically when a merchant becomes eligible, and assigned to the rep who closed the original. On other plans the list and the one-click start do the same job by hand.
Questions
Where does paid-in percentage come from?
From the remittance ledger on each funded deal, which you update by hand or by importing the lender's remittance report.
Can each lender have a different threshold?
Yes. The renewal threshold is set per lender.
Does a renewal keep the link to the original deal?
Yes. Renewal deals are linked to the deal they renew, so the merchant's history reads as a chain.
Is renewal automation in every plan?
The renewals list and one-click start are in every plan. Automatic creation of renewal deals and tasks is part of Pro. See pricing.
