Chasing unpaid commissions

Reconcile every funder's commission statement each month and dispute a short payment with the evidence ready.

Why money goes missing

Funders rarely refuse to pay. Money goes missing quietly: a deal paid at the wrong points, an upsell left off, a renewal paid on net new money when the agreement says full advance, a clawback taken on the wrong merchant, or a deal that never appears on a statement at all. Nobody notices unless someone compares the statement with what was expected, line by line, every month.

The monthly routine

Each month, for each funder

0 of 8
expected  = 50,000 x (6 base + 4 upsell) / 100 = 5,000
paid      = 3,000
short = 2,000 (the 4 upsell points were left off)
A typical short payment: the base was paid and the upsell was missed.

Disputing a short or missing payment

  1. Check your side first. Re-read the agreement and the deal's terms. A surprising number of disputes end with the broker's own record being wrong.
  2. Write one clear email per deal or per statement. Merchant name, funding date, amount funded, expected commission with the arithmetic, amount paid, the difference, and the clause in the agreement that supports you.
  3. Attach the evidence: the statement line, the funding confirmation, the offer with the agreed sell rate.
  4. Set a follow-up date and chase on it. Most short payments are fixed on the next statement once someone looks.
  5. Escalate in writing to your account manager if two follow-ups get no answer.
  6. Record the outcome: paid, partly paid or written off, and why. Patterns per funder belong in your next conversation about the relationship.

Keep it routine, not personal

Funder ISO departments handle these questions every day. A short, well-documented email gets a quicker fix than an angry call, and it keeps the relationship you need for the next deal.

How the CRM helps

Every funded deal creates its expected commissions. Under Commissions → Reconcile, upload a lender's commission statement as a CSV; lines are matched to funded deals for you to confirm, assign by hand or ignore. Mark commission received records the amount and date, and can flag the lender's final payment as a short-pay.

From a commission's actions menu you can Dispute it with a reason and resolve it later, Record clawback with the amount and date, or void it. Payouts then shows what reps and partners are owed from money that has arrived. See commission tracking and funded deals and commissions.

Questions

How do I reconcile a funder's commission statement?

Match every line on the statement to a funded deal, compare the amount paid with the amount you expected from the ISO agreement, list funded deals missing from the statement, and check every clawback. Record what was received and follow up on each difference in writing.
