Import leads from a spreadsheet
Bring in a CSV or Excel list of leads, or merchants with their owners: map the columns, choose how duplicates are handled, and assign the rows to reps.
Open Import in the sidebar. The import takes four steps: Upload a file, Map columns, Options and Preview.
- 1Upload a file. Drop a CSV (UTF-8 or an Excel export) or an XLSX file. The first row must be the column headers; for XLSX, only the first sheet is read. Files can be up to 20 MB and 50,000 rows.
- 2Map columns. Columns are matched to fields automatically from their headers. Check each one and fix any that are wrong. For columns with no matching field, choose Keep as extra data (stored with the record) or Don't import. Tick Save this mapping as a preset if you will import files like this again.
- 3Options. Choose Import as (Leads, or Merchants + owners), what happens When a row matches an existing record, which fields to Match on, the Status for new leads, the Lead source, and Assign to (Nobody (unassigned), One rep, or Round robin between reps).
- 4Preview. Check the first rows as they will be imported, then click Import.
Duplicates
A row counts as a match when its phone, email or EIN (whichever you chose under Match on) matches a record you already have. Business name alone is never used. For each match you can:
- Skip it: leave the existing record alone (the safest choice for a list you may have imported before).
- Update the existing record: fill in and overwrite fields from the file. A field that is empty in the file never blanks a field you already have.
- Import it anyway: create a new record even though it matches.
After the import
Small files finish while you watch; large files run in the background, and you can leave the page. The result shows how many rows were imported, updated, skipped as duplicates or skipped with errors. Download the rows that failed, fix them, and import that file again.
Every past import is listed under Import → Import history, with who uploaded it and what happened to its rows.
